In 2013, Rust which is also the same team members of the develepers of the Garry’s Mod, release its first open alpha in Steam directly. Gamer community actually admired the game because of its pvp kinda gameplay with co-op raids, gun trading and shooting experience. Its commonly accepted as the best genre of pvp and survival included for now. So will Rust keep the leading position of its genre? Maybe. Or not? Will see. We are going to discuss about the game itself and its community in overall.
Rust is a survival, crafting, building and also tactical pvp game which is released in December 11th 2013 in Steam. Early release date of the game had zombies included, so you have to build your own house in a compelling natural life and also defend it from the raiders plus don’t get killed by zombies outside of your house. And they can be anywhere. That was not a struggle, but developers decided to remove zombies from the game in early access late in 2013 and put “Radiated Red Bear” instead. These red bears were hard to kill and they determined to kill you no matter what in game. That was the real struggle besides zombies. Also game turned out to be DayZ kinda pvp, so people quit Rust for a long time and they lost lots of its players for a time.
In late 2014, developers made the biggest patch of the game itself and published “Experimental Rust” which means Rust, but in better graphics quality and new items, plus no red bears with their bloodlust. Developers earned the gamer community of the game with that update. People came back to Rust, and saw what changed in a year. We can compare the differences between the old Rust and the Experimental one in these pictures:
Now, there are two different games we see. We had Legacy Rust which is the old Rust with red bears, you could still play it in Steam and have options to turn out the game for the old version. We used to have access for that permission. But now, players can’t play legacy anymore because the experimental release of Rust came out. The Alpha is over. The game is not Early Access anymore.
The crafting system of Rust is kind of widening. You can build a house and also have to defend your base for every player that can raid. Of course, raid is not an easy peasy thing. People would raid your house no matter what. That means, blow your base with c4 or rocket and take your loot. You can do that too. As i said before, raiding is not a laborless job. Take your time! Besides that, you can also create a role-play experience in game too. There are many ways to do it, servers, items and people. You don’t have to do only pvp, if you want to chill and pve; it does exist! You can survival though the environment. Zombie modes, Roleplaying communities and unique modes available in game. These kinda event you experience will provide you the enjoyment of the game too. By the way, talking about pve, game includes tanks, helicopters and pve enemies like militaries and places that you can fight and loot. They will compell you to battle with them in order to loot their rich items. So you can upgrade yourself or your base. But if be wary with players! They will interfere too! The enemies who is real player will wait for you to fight and exhausted. Then they will attach and can steal your loot. Don’t rage quit. Its people.
Every game has its own toxic community and make the game unbearable for us. In Rust, it does exist too. Community of game grown faster in years and concordantly to that, players with mean and toxic attitudes rose too. For example, if you are new in game, the toxic players will kill you when game starts. If you are lucky you can escape and build your base. Otherwise, have patience. But also, in this community we have people in support too. When you are a new-born in game, they will support you with meals, gun and material for your base. These kinda people exist too. That is to say… your choice to love the community and take patience or hate them instead. Yet, this game needs a thumbs up and give a shot to try. Game has a potencial, so gamers will enhance it.
