For those who miss the original Commandos, Kalypso Media and Claymore Game Studios have announced the release date for Commandos Origins.
Commandos: Origins was announced in 2023. According to the feedback of those who played the demo version by the developer team, it was said that there were many points that needed to be improved and the release date was postponed. Now, Kalypso Media and Claymore Game Studios have given the date for players wondering when Commandos Origins will be released.
Claymore Game Studios Studio Director Jürgen Reusswig said that after more than four years of new studio set-up, design and development, and feedback from the community who tested the game, Commandos: Origins has reached the publishing stage.
Commandos Origins is set to bring back the elite commando group from the classic games, with a storyline featuring groups taking part in World War II for the first time. Jack O'Hara ‘Green Beret’, Thomas ‘Sapper’ Hancock, Francis T. ‘Sharpshooter’ Woolridge, Samuel ‘Driver’ Brooklyn, James ‘Marine’ Blackwood and Rene ‘Spy’ Duchamp will be among the playable characters and will feature more than 10 maps with different styles of progression. A two-player co-op mode has been confirmed; it will be playable online or in split-screen modes.
Commandos Origins will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass on 9 April 2025. It will also launch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in late 2025.
